Kentucky limestone miners win UMWA representation
A bargaining unit of 148 miners today voted for United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) representation at

Workers Reinstated at Dynatec
Mining Services
Fourteen workers at the Dynatec Mining Services
zinc mine near Lebanon, Tenn., were illegally fired
by their employer for engaging in union activity in
June, but were able to get their jobs back thanks to
quick action by the UMWA and a ruling by the
National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
On the day the workers were slated to return to their
jobs, they along with UMWA organizers held an
informational picket at the mine's gate. Hourly
employees who stopped to receive the literature
being passed out welcomed their returning
coworkers and expressed approval for the NLRB's
ruling.
